The Leonard Theater (335 Adams Ave.)
Presenting The Spectrettes
The Spectrettes are a girl group on the cusp of fame! On April 2, 1964, an unexpected winter storm hit the Midwest and changed music history forever when the Spectrettes and the pilot of their charter plane perished in a tragic plane crash. The story takes place from the girls’ ghosts POV as they reflect on their untimely death and eventually come to terms with it. Their unique personalities and individual stories are revealed to the audience through monologues, flashbacks, original songs and even some interesting puppets!
Banger’s Elixir Rated R
Written by Alicia Grega
Directed by Mark Zdancewicz
Banger’s Elixir is an absurdest play imagining the people who might compose clickable spam subject lines, literally working for peanuts, locked into an exploitative 21st century American capitalist wage slavery system. The spam lines were collected from real email received by playwright Alicia Grega over a period of years since the piece was first conceived as a performance art piece in 2010. It later evolved into a 20 minute play whose subject invites exploration of the dark underbelly of human motivation.
Directed by Nick Hrutkay
This new electrically-charged production of what is thought to be Shakespeare’s final play, THE TEMPEST, places the master magician Prospero on a vaudeville stage among the screaming joy rides and freak-shows of Coney Island. Amazement, trickery and romance fill the air as Prospero blends dreams with reality in this mysterious journey of vengeance and reconciliation directed by Nick Hrutkay and inspired by world-famous illusionist Harry Houdini. The Tempest joins Scranton Fringe from Pittsburgh!
