Call for Proposals: Site-Specific Theater Project within a Float Tank
Presented by Scranton Fringe in Partnership with The Giving Tree Wellness Center
Scranton Fringe is seeking proposals from theater and performance artists for a one-of-a-kind, site-specific production to be staged within a float tank at The Giving Tree Wellness Center. This unique project will be featured as part of the 2025 Scranton Fringe Festival (September 25th – October 5th).
Project Overview
We are seeking a theatrical/performance piece (approximately 10 minutes in length) designed to be performed on rotation during the festival. Given the unique “stage” of a float tank, we are looking for proposals that creatively engage with the sensory, immersive, and intimate nature of this environment.
- Performance Format: The piece will be performed multiple times per day on a rotating schedule.
- Story/Themes: We seek creative adaptations of classic known titles OR totally new stories!
- Audience Size: Due to space constraints, each performance will be limited to 5-8 audience members, who will be seated around the tank.
- Eligibility: All involved artists must be 18+ by July 1st, 2025. Though open to all artists/creative troupes based in or around Northeast PA will be given priority consideration.
Rehearsal / Performance Dates
The rehearsals will occur as needed / as we can make them available in tandem with the artist(s) and the Giving Tree Wellness Centers’ schedule.
Performances will occur, on rotation, on the following dates:
- Friday, September 26th
- Sunday, September 28th
- Friday, October 3rd
Budget & Support
The selected artist/team will receive a stipend of $525 to be used at their discretion for the production. Additionally, Scranton Fringe will provide:
- Marketing and promotional support
- Front-of-house staff
- Sound system for audio playback appropriately sized for the room
- A production assistant for show dates
Artists who work well with collaborations with set parameters but can thrive independently are the ideal candidates for this unique project.
