Arts Education is ESSENTIAL
Our educational programs are led by seasoned artists, educators, and professionals, and are designed to ignite passion in budding artists and enthusiasts.
From workshops & panels to Q&A sessions & Pop-Up Events, we offer diverse topics for all skill levels.
Early Stages
Our core educational focus is on K-12 youth, engaging them in theatre and other creative arts through fun programs like story and expression, connection with others, examination of self, artistic production, and discovery of the world.
Our Early Stages program delivers free professional performances and workshops to regional youth, made possible by partnerships with the Lackawanna County Children’s Library and other venues.
Fringe Theater Lab
Fringe Theater Lab is a chance for new performing arts groups in Northeast Pennsylvania to grow their ideas with creative support and funding from Scranton Fringe.
From grant funding and free venue access, to hands-on creative and tech support, the Fringe Theater Lab is here strengthen the NEPA arts scene by empowering local artists to work together on something totally new.
Launching in 2026, this initiative will support playwrights and theater creators through programs designed to spark creativity and community.
Including a yearlong Playwright Incubator, mentorship, and rehearsal resources, the lab aims to meet artists at various stages of growth.
With engaging workshops, virtual sessions and creative meetups, the lab will foster a supportive network to amplify new voices. Subscribe to be the first to hear more and join.
Theater for the People
Based on the idea of “radical hospitality”, our Theater For The People initiative provides free tickets to individuals and groups that could not otherwise afford them.
No complex applications, no hoops to jump through. Just simple access to tickets for anyone who otherwise wouldn’t be able to join us.

Northeast PA Playwrights Incubator
The Northeast PA Playwrights Incubator is a new Scranton Fringe program designed to support emerging or aspiring playwrights in our region as they develop a new script from outline/early draft to a festival-ready staged reading.
This is a structured, supportive process built for writers who want:
The program is intentionally accessible across a wide geographic region. Most activities take place online, with one in-person weekend in Scranton (July) to bring the cohort together for focused writing time and development.
Vital Scenes
An exciting collaboration between Scranton Fringe and the Northeast Counties Medical Society, Vital Scenes showcases theater as a means to explore wellness in body, mind, and community, celebrating original works focused on health, healing, and technology’s role in care.
Join us in September 2025 for a virtual talkback with artists and experts to turn art into action and conversations into real change.
