Bill Savage brings his play "Down to the Fifty-Four" to the Scranton Fringe Festival after a succcessful run at the Free-Play Festival in San Francisco. Set in New York City as the disco era collides with the dawn of the 1980s, it follows the journey of Nick Cannon, a shy Columbia University student who just wants to see what he is missing, and decides to go on down to Studio 54, the world's hottest, star-studded celebrity disco. But as he chickens out and decides it was all a mistake, he bumps into Marlena, an NYU student who lights up his dark outlook. But how is he going to explain all this to his suburban mother out on Long Island?

Scranton-native and longtime local sportswriter Bill Savage returns to Scranton Fringe after last year's successful production of "Leave it to the Angels." His plays have also been performed in Harrisburg and Mount Gretna this year, and in the past in Philadelphia and London.
