AUDITION NOTICE: What the Constitution Means to Me
Scranton Fringe is seeking paid actors for its November 2026 production of What the Constitution Means to Me by Heidi Schreck, directed by Dan Kimbrough.
Performances will take place November 6–8, 2026, at The Sanctuary Theater in Scranton, PA.
This production arrives at a particularly meaningful civic moment: during the 250th anniversary year of the United States and in the same week as the 2026 midterm elections. Funny, personal, urgent, and deeply human, What the Constitution Means to Me asks how the U.S. Constitution has shaped generations of women, families, and communities – and what it means to claim, question, and reimagine the document today. This production is made possible thanks to a special arrangement with Concord Theatrical.
The playwright and original lead performer stated, “After years of research, I developed large sections of this piece through extemporaneous storytelling, and the style of the written text reflects this. This script is a blueprint for a living encounter…”
Alongside the production, Scranton Fringe plans to engage the community through an open-access public art project connected to the central question of the play: What does the Constitution mean to you? Students and community members will be invited to respond through writing and/or visual design on postcards provided by Scranton Fringe, with all submissions displayed as part of a community-wide art installation surrounding the production at the theater during the performance weekend.
